RR vs DC in IPL 2021: Who will fill in Ben Stokes shoes in RR’s playing XI vs DC?: It’s game number two for the Royals as they take on the Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede. The men in pink narrowly missed out on the chase in their first game and will look to regain lost ground as they take on last year’s beaten finalists. The Royals would hope for more of the same from skipper Sanju Samson and young left-armer Chetan Sakariya, both of whom stood up and delivered big performances for the Royals in that first game.

Venue Talk

Both games at the Wankhede stadium so far have been high-scoring affairs and this one might not be too different. Two batting powerhouses could well ensure another six-hitting carnival for the fan, paving way for a fun high-scoring contest.

Opposition Chatter

Delhi had a win to start their campaign, with an impressive all-round display against Chennai. Both their opening batsmen looked at ease on a very good Mumbai track while their bowlers looked up to the task in that first innings show. The Capitals will be a strong opponent in this battle at Wankhede.

The Big Talking Point

It’s the batting that has taken centre stage in Mumbai thus far but it could turn out to be the bowlers that make a difference as the teams would look to restrict the opposition to something below-par. Pace could be the ace with both sides packing a punch in that facet of the game, and fans of fast bowling can look forward to the game with a certain degree of interest as the likes of Morris, Rabada, and Mustafizur to name a few, could well set-up a scintillating show in South Mumbai.

Team News

Ben Stokes will be unavailable for selection due to a finger injury. David Miller and Andrew Tye are both out of quarantine and available for selection against Delhi. Samson might go for Miller in the middle-order promoting Jos Buttler to the top.

Word from the Camp

Chetan Sakariya:

“I was feeling really confident as I came into bowl, and had been preparing myself mentally for such a huge moment in my career. It was fantastic from my perspective to be able to put in a good performance on my debut, but it is true that it would’ve felt sweeter had we won the game.”

“I felt we could’ve bowled well in the latter overs, especially after the 14th over, and we’ve had the opportunity to sit down and identify some key areas which we will look to correct against Delhi. It will be about applying ourselves in the middle and executing our plans well,”

Sanju Samson:

“The feeling in the squad is really good. We’re all eager to get back on the pitch and do well. We played well in the last game and unfortunately didn’t quite get over the line. I think it’s important for us to follow the process and take it game by game. Important to focus on what our job is, that is to express ourselves and play the brand of cricket we want to play. I believe we have a strong squad that is capable of producing the right results in different situations.”
