Broncos right tackle Ja’Wuan James sustained a torn Achilles tendon Tuesday while training at an off-site facility in the Denver area, a source confirmed.
James was limited to parts of three games in 2019 because of knee issues, opted out of 2020 because of concerns regarding the coronavirus and is now out for 2021.
Minus James, the Broncos — who didn’t draft an offensive tackle last weekend — could turn to Calvin Anderson (one career start) or shuffle the offensive line and kick left guard Dalton Risner over to right tackle.
James had been training at the Broncos’ facility this offseason until the union encouraged players to work out on their own and away from team headquarters.
