At a time when the country is facing a surge in COVID-19 cases and citizens are running pillar to post for oxygen cylinders, hospital beds, medication and more, actor Sonu Sood has come to the rescue of thousands across the nation. The ‘Dabangg’ star who turned messiah for the masses during the nationwide lockdown last year, continues to help citizens in distress amid the second wave of the virus.
Taking into consideration the relief work Sonu has done, from providing hospital beds to patients, getting oxygen cylinders and COVID medications delivered to people’s homes and hospitals to planning to install at least four of the oxygen plants in the worst-hit Covid-19 states in India, including Delhi and Maharashtra, people have hailed him as their saviour and expressed the wish to see him as the next Prime Minister of the nation.
Now, reacted to people wishing to see him running for PM in the next general election, on Tuesday, while interacting with the paparazzi, Sonu mentioned that he has no interest in politics and he wants to keep helping people like a common man.
Sonu said, “Hum aam insaan ache hai bhai, aam insaan better hai. Wo apna kaam nahi hai na (I am doing fine as a common man. That’s not my job).”
As for the oxygen plants Sonu is importing from France, the official release stated that the first plant has been ordered and it will be delivered in 10-12 days. Sonu said, “Time is the biggest challenge for us at the moment and we are working our best to make sure everything comes in time and we don’t lose more lives.” Apart from Sonu, several celebrities have come forward to help citizens in this time of crisis. Amitabh Bachchan, Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli, Priyanka Chopra among others are all contributing to the Covid-19 relief work in some way or the other.
