Minor injuries in Thanksgiving rollover crash on Parkway

A rollover crash on Thursday afternoon on the Parkway East resulted in only minor injuries, police said.

State and Pittsburgh police along with Pittsburgh fire and PennDOT crews responded to the westbound side of the Parkway near the Squirrel Hill/Homestead exit shortly after 3 p.m.

State police said a car driven by a 40-year-old Pittsburgh man traveled across all three lanes and struck the right-side guard rail and jersey barriers, leaving the highway before going up an embankment and back down onto the Parkway, rolling over in the process.

The driver was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital, and three juvenile passengers were taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital for evaluation.

Police said the driver was cited for speeding.
