No need of onion, potato imports, says Zambia National Farmers’ Union

Stakeholders within the Onion and Potatoes worth chain have resolved that the nation doesn’t must import onions and potatoes because it has satisfactory shares.

In keeping with the Zambia Nationwide Farmers’ Union (ZNFU), the stakeholders met in Lusaka yesterday and agreed that there isn’t any want for the nation to import onions or frozen onion associated merchandise because the nation has sufficient shares for the market.

ZNFU president, Jervis Zimba defined that the contributors agreed that the nation has satisfactory shares from carryovers and recent shares.

Mr. Zimba stated to this impact, there might be no want for the nation to import frozen chips, Potato Crisps, including that importers of Potato Crisps shall be referred to the Ministry of Commerce, Commerce and Trade (MCTI) for additional recommendation.
