The Best Dip from Aldi — August 2022

One area that caught my eye on recent visits was the dip section. Nestled between the chilled Aldi Finds and coveted cheese section were enough dips to fill four shelves. I wanted to try all these dippable delights, which, conveniently, is something that’s actually job-related for me. After getting the green light from my editor, I cleared space in my refrigerator and went to the store to stock up. Here’s what I discovered when I tasted every dip that Aldi sells.

I visited a local Aldi location that is reliably well-stocked. I filled my cart with every variety of refrigerated dip, including hummus, guacamole, and sour cream- and cheese-based dips. I tasted the dips on their own and with crackers. All dips were consumed at the same chilled temperature. When heating was suggested, I tasted those dips both chilled and warmed. Because there were obvious categories within the dips, I organized the tasting so that similar styles were evaluated together. I did a final round of tasting with the winners from each group to determine the overall champion.

The Best Dip: Park Street Deli Dill Dip

This is exactly what I’m looking for in a store-bought dip. Dill adds an herby, lemony flavor to this creamy dip. Just like the homemade version, Aldi’s dill dip starts with sour cream and mayonnaise, with dried onion and garlic powder adding flavor and balance. Dill adds a fresh, herby, lemony note, which is a delicious pairing for celery and other crudités. The dip is also great with potato chips, toasted crostini, and pretty much any cracker.

Need a quick lunch solution? Mix dill dip with shredded rotisserie chicken or canned tuna and serve over tender lettuce leaves. Whether you need a last-minute appetizer or a dinnertime flavor boost, know that this container has you covered.

Find it in stores: Park Street Deli Dill Dip, $3.45 for 14 ounces
